HCHW has been known for innovation and effectiveness
in its approach and in the way of functioning.
HCHW has to its credit a number of innovative
programmes, which received wide acclamation
far and wide. A number of its programmes are
today being replicated by other NGOs working
in other areas of Andhra Pradesh as well as
in other cities. This is basically because the
innovations have been need based and developed
out of grassroot realities. Some of our innovative
programmes have been listed out here.
Street
Presence
Expanding the coverage and extending the protective,
rehabilitative and development activities, by
working directly with children on streets where
our street educators serve as a friend, enabler
and guide children and help them differentiate
good and bad.
Child
Line
A 24 hours toll free telephone facility for
the rescue and relief of children in crisis,
introduced for the first time in Hyderabad by
HCHW as a round the clock emergency service
in cooperation with Department of Police, Hyderabad.
Children’s
Carnival
A weeklong festival for children in difficult
circumstances with the sole objective of providing
them the experience of lost childhood from 14th
to 20th November every year, which they otherwise
lose on streets while struggling for their day-to-day
survival.
Police
Dost Campaign
An effort to bridge the gap between police and
children through regular sensitization and interaction
programmes.
