When
dreams are supported by dedication. When dedication
is improvised by unbridled hardwork, When hardwork
is motivated by clarity of vision, And when vision
is guided by motivating mission… Many an
idea will transform into successful initiative,
Many an inspiration will flourish into innovative
intervention Many a dream will bring new hope
and new Horizons in the lives of needy.

Mr
Mohd. Rafiuddin Nayyar, the founder President
and Director has been the architect of HCHW. Infact
it was his sheer commitment, vision and dedicated
hardwork that was instrumental in establishing
HCHW as a full fledged professional organization.
As a young student while doing his bachelors course
in social work (that involves four days of class
room teaching and two days of field work exposure
and / or placement), Mr Rafiuddin was exposed
to a number of organizations and institutions,
hospitals, industries, charity organizations,
orphanages, homes for the differently abled children
so on and so forth, thus exploring a variety of
work cultures, patterns and practices. As a budding
social worker he used to wonder how far he could
preserve his ideals; use creativity; and innovative
aspiration after joining an employer.
Gradually,
he developed a strong desire to serve the deserving
poor, down trodden and needy in the society. In
those days, there were absolutely no non-profit
organizations established or managed by professionally
qualified social workers. Neither was social work
considered a lucrative career. Today, the situation
has changed as the Donor World started emphasizing
the need for qualified social workers in the non-profit
sector.
As
a student, Mr. Rafiuddin was never satisfied with
the quality of services being offered by other
organizations visited as part of academic exposure
and learning purposes. The usual typical response
from those organizations would be the scarcity
of resources. On the other hand, Mr. Rafiuddin
used to feel that in spite of the resource crunch,
non-profit organizations can ensure better quality
with the available funds.
Gradually,
he had nurtured a dream of starting his own organization,
which can yield results with quality; ensure change
with dignity; and create the urge for a meaningful
life. Soon, he was able to crystallize his ideas
and long-term goals. He was firm to keep the scope
of his organization wide enough to be able to
work with any segment of society. He thus decided
to work for the cause of human welfare particularly
who are deprived of basic living standards of
life by exploring and strengthening their capacities
and potentials through result oriented and need
based services thus ensuring sustainable changes
in the conditions of these sections of the society.
Looking
at like minded personalities, he found Mr. M Raja
Shekhar and Mrs. Vanila Bhaskaran as strong support
and source of great encouragement for his vision
to transform into reality. His dream transformed
into reality with the formation of Hyderabad Council
of Human Welfare as a secular, democratic; non-political
and non-profit organization. It was established
on 2nd October 1990 with a profound spirit of
National Integration and firm belief in the philosophy
of Mahatma Gandhi. October 2nd marks the birth
of Mahatma Gandhi who had given allover the world
the message of peace and non-violence. In the
sense, the day is very significant for Indians
and apt to initiate such noble ventures. HCHW
has been a unique effort in the city of Hyderabad
initiated by a group of trained and qualified
social workers to promote social work and social
welfare activities. HCHW started working and slowly
gained accolades and expertise over its work in
child sector.
HCHW
has been working effectively in the field of development
specifically with children living on streets and
in other difficult circumstances towards their
rehabilitation and re-integration. It also works
with women and families in urban slums towards
their development and empowerment. All the programmes
of HCHW have evolved over a period of time based
upon the needs and situational demands. Today,
HCHW is envisaging of making Hyderabad a ‘Child
Friendly City’, and is thus, striving for
the promotion of child rights and ensuring safe
and joyous childhood to in children difficult
circumstances.
